Eagles showed resilience as they clawed back from 4 run early deficit. The Eagles had to pull out all the tricks to snatch a week one win as the bullpen held tight, with some late innings heroics from Tom Mcgarry and Nathan Van der Linden completed the comeback victory.

Division 2 Report

Division 2 came out with a 4-0 victory, led by Daniel Chapman who threw 3 shut out innings and recorded 2 hits. After taking a 1-0 lead in the 4th inning, both Ryan Broome and Tyrone Hambly were able to keep Henley off the scoreboard, before we were able to tack on 3 insurance runs at the end of the game to put the result beyond doubt.

Division 3 Report

The first game of the year saw us get off to a good start winning 14-6 against H&G. With Jono Rex back at WT (and looking good back in blue) he pitched us a 4 inning shutout with Jack Hambly and new recruit Dice K closing it out. With an average age of 35+ to start the game we got off to a good start with Zoota hitting a bomb and a double and hits to most others, we made a few changes and saw the debut of 3 X U17’s (Gavin, Tyson and Jayden) who did well in their first senior game. The experience will do them well and I’m sure we will see them more in the future. Next up Port Adelaide.

Junior Report

Great day for the first week of Junior Baseball. The U11 team played at Woodville and had a win and played very well. The U15’s also had a win with some great pitching and defence. Brodie Chapman had a great day with the bat with 2 doubles (although one of them looked like it should have been a home run). It was a great team effort and a good start to the season. Looking forward to next Sunday with all the junior teams playing at home.
